The lovely fishing village Platanias is far away from the Greek mass tourism. Quiet and original, though easily accessible by car or plane. The trip is worth it!

To be able to experience the scenic diversity of the Pelion, it is advisable to travel by car. If you don't want to do the whole trip with your own car, you can arrive in Greece via various airline connections.

You can easily reach Thessaloniki and Athens with Eurowings from Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Cologne. Aegean Airlines (StarAlliance) flies in combination with Lufthansa from many German airports. There are also connections with EasyJet and Austrian Airlines.

From Thessaloniki International Airport, you can take a rental car on the Ring Road around Thessaloniki towards Athens and follow the highway to Volos, the capital of Pelion. The journey takes about 2.5 hours. If you don't want to take a break there, it's best to take the ring road around Volos in the direction of Mount Pelion / Portaria / Agria. In Agria you will be directed back to the coastal road. From here the journey on pleasent country roads takes another 1 hour and leads past beautiful villages with views of the spectacular gulf coast, in a wonderful landscape through Argalasti and Lafkos to the south and our village of Platanias. We recommend enjoying the drive through the beautiful landscape and stopping for a coffee or a snack at the Volos harbor promenade or at the village square in Argalasti.

From Athens airport, the journey to Volos takes just under an hour longer, so you should expect to travel around 4.5 hours.

Some airlines such as Condor and easyjet also fly to the smaller Volos airport, however these connections are presently only once a week.

The most beautiful and fastest way is a flight to the island of Skiathos. The island is primarily served by Condor from Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich in the season from April to October. It is possible to travel to Skiathos several times a week via Athens all year round. From there you can either take the ferry to Volos and then continue with a rental car to Platanias or you can take a taxi boat (approx. a 20 minute transfer, 50 Euros for 5 people) to Katigiorgis, a town neighboring Platanias. We can organize your transfer from here.
